Qutub Minar

The Qutb-Minar, constructed in red and buff sandstone, is a towering monument and a symbol of Delhi's rich historical past. Standing at a height of 72.5 meters, it is the tallest tower in India, with a diameter of 14.32 meters at the base and about 2.75 meters at the top.

The minar was built by Qutbu'd-Din Aibak in 1199 AD, with the purpose of being used as a mu'azzin (crier) to give calls for prayer. His successor and son-in-law, Shamsu'd-Din Iltutmish, added three more storeys to the minar during his reign from 1211 to 1236 AD. Each storey of the minar is adorned with a projected balcony supported by intricately designed stone brackets in a honey-comb pattern. This architectural masterpiece continues to stand tall and serve as a reminder of India's glorious past.

The best time to take photos is undoubtedly during the morning hours when the first rays of sunlight hit the sandstone walls, giving them a beautiful golden effect. This is the perfect time to embark on a Photowalk, as the monuments are at their most stunning and majestic state.

The golden light adds a magical touch to the already stunning sandstone walls, creating a picturesque landscape that is sure to take your breath away. These early hours also offer the perfect lighting for capturing intricate details and creating dynamic compositions. Whether you are a professional photographer or a beginner, the morning hours provide an excellent opportunity to capture the monuments in their full glory and showcase their grandeur through your lens.

What's also more interesting apart from the main structure are the nearby ruins. These ruins not only add to the overall aesthetic of the site, but they also provide insight into the history of the place. As one explores the area, they can see the remains of pillars and walls, which serve as a testament to the architectural skills of those who built them.

These nearby ruins offer a glimpse into the past and help paint a picture of what life would have been like in this place hundreds or even thousands of years ago. Moreover, for those interested in photography, this architectural site is a treasure trove of unique and captivating shots.

The wide angle shots that can be captured from selected locations in the site allow for a more panoramic view and truly showcase the grandeur of the ruins. Overall, this is not just your average tourist attraction, but a place where one can immerse themselves in both the beauty and history of ancient architecture.
